We had been posting Ace, aka Roscoe on our FB page for over week hoping someone would come forward before his time was up.  No one came for Ace and he was completely out-of-time and facing euthanasia, so we took him into our rescue.  When we picked Ace up from the transport, I heard his story and now after getting to know him, it's even sadder than before :(  Ace was seized by animal control for neglect because his owners would not provide him any shelter as required by law.  This was in the colder winter months and he had no way to keep out of the wind, rain or cold.  Ace shivered, curled up in a ball everynight covered in flea and ticks, trying to keep warm.

Since coming into our rescue, we have fallen a little more in love with him each day.  He is the happiest, most grateful dog we have saved in a very long time.  Ace has a bone that he is especialy proud of and he prances around with delight, showing it off to all of us, wagging his tail so hard :)  It is probably the first bone he has ever had in his life.  Ace is only 3-4 years old and he barely made it out of the shelter with his life.  He is on the smaller side, weighing just 55 pounds and he is incredibly kind.  Today, Ace went to see our vet for a checkup, his vaccinations, fecal exam and heartworm test.  He was nervous and trembling, not knowing what to expect and still gave our vet kisses while he completed his exam today.  We were all very saddened to find out that Ace tested positive for heartworms and will require treatment.  It seems like this guy just can't get a break and he yearns so badly for his own family.  We have started him on antibiotics today which he will take for one month.  This will help prepare him for treatment so that he is much less likely to have an adverse reaction.  In two months, Ace will be healthy and ready to go to his new home.  This wasn't a planned expense for us, but we don't regret for a second taking this amazing dog.  He never meets a stranger, loves to feel the sun on his face, smell the air and listen to the birds.  We want to make sure that Ace had plenty of sunny days ahead that he can spend with his family.  Can you help us make his dreams come true?
