The Project:
In these wild and frightening times, what can a diverse group of
elder women offer us all?
Theater of Witness is raising funds for GrandWomen –
an inspiring new Theater of Witness production and film, created and
performed by women in their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s from diverse racial,
cultural and economic backgrounds. They will share their own life
stories, and wisdom in spoken word, movement, music and film imagery,
offering us a new paradigm for communal sanity, love and peace.
We need to raise an initial $15,000 as seed funding to begin
making GrandWomen.

The Performers:
Some will be grandmothers and great grandmothers, others, single
and proud. They have; knit families and communities together, survived
illness, loss and heartbreak, lived with racism, poverty, sexism
xenophobia and fear. Some were born in the US, others from far away.
They’ve been caretakers, friends and lovers. They have fought for
justice, and dared to live small and large dreams. They’ve been
pathfinders, artists, service workers, corporate leaders, healthcare
providers, caregivers, spiritual leaders and teachers. What wisdom can
this group of GrandWomen pass on to all of us?

We offer equitable access to management
resources, including a full-service fiscal sponsorship
program, an affordable co-working space in Center City, and
workshops and events dedicated to strengthening community-rooted organizations.
Our services are tailored for artists, social
entrepreneurs, and creative small businesses who create
immense value in our communities, but who may not otherwise have the
capacity to manage their own nonprofit organization.
Through our charitable trust, CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia,
we partner with 90+ fiscally sponsored projects to
optimize their operations so they can grow and sustain their programming.

What is fiscal sponsorship?
Fiscal sponsorship offers an alternative to the complicated processes of starting and managing a nonprofit. It is a formal relationship between a community-based project and our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In this unique structure, each project contributes toward shared nonprofit services, including oversight, staffing, platforms, and tools.
Project leaders are able to maintain their own mission, vision, programming, fundraising, and operations. The fiscal sponsor, in turn, provides essential back office support, as well as the financial, legal, and administrative oversight to ensure 501(c)(3) compliance and support best business practices.
Through fiscal sponsorship, projects are able to optimize their
operations so they can grow and sustain their programming.
Will I receive a tax receipt?
Yes, all contributions are tax deductible and you will receive an
email receipt from FundRazr as soon as you make a donation.
How do I donate to multiple projects?
You will need to go to the sub-campaign of each project you want to
donate to. Please complete the transaction process for each individual project.
What if I can't decide who to donate to?
You may donate to the CultureWorks
Power Fund, which supports our entire portfolio of 90+ projects.
Why do I see the name CultureWorks some places and CultureTrust in others?
Our organization is made up of two business entities.
CultureWorks is our public brand and primary
nonprofit organization. CultureWorks manages
CultureTrust, a separate 501(c)(3) charitable trust
which houses our fiscally sponsored projects. This structure provides
legal and financial protection for our fiscal sponsorship program. All
donations to this campaign will go the CultureTrust
entity (EIN 46-3109411) to directly support our fiscally sponsored projects.
How can I get involved?
