After a tough draw that saw us get zero home games for 2024, the team had to travel to and from Toronto and as far as Niagara Falls 5 times this summer to compete in the Ontario Cup, Players gave up half there summer weekends in order to compete. In the end, Ottawa's very own Ottawa Gloucester Celtic - Men’s Premier Team representing the Ottawa Gloucester Soccer Club, won the Ontario Cup Finals and were crowned Provincial Champions. This is the 5th time Gloucester has won, the first being in 2013 which was the first provincial title in the history of the club. In previous years, thanks in large part to the support of our club, community, friends, family and sponsors, we were able to solely focus on soccer and were fortunate enough to be crowned Canadian National Champions in 2013 and 2022. In 2016 we managed a bronze medal 3rd place performance and there were no nationals after our 2021 championship.
It’s been a stellar season this year for the Men’s Team having won 3 trophies (league, cup and provincials) as they continue to focus on the ultimate goal - another Canadian title for the club.
And the journey continues; representing Ontario at the - 2024 Canadian Soccer Association National Club Championships in Vancouver. This is the top level of senior amateur soccer in the country where Men’s and Women’s teams from across Canada will be arriving on the week of October 8 - 15 to compete for the National Title.
As Gloucester moves in to high gear in preparation for this grueling week long competition, there is also a new challenge that faces us. Funding! Travel and accommodations for the week will run just under $30,000 (Vancouver is far!). Although ambitious, our goal is to raise as close to that as possible so every member travels at no cost to themselves.
