Why you should support us?

In the last eight years, Save Vietnam’s Wildlife (SVW), a national non-profit wildlife conservation organization in Vietnam, has been successful in rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing hundreds of pangolins and other endangered small carnivores. We fight against the illegal wildlife trade, work to strengthen weak law enforcement, and battle against limited resources and funding, to ensure less wild animals are taken from their forest homes and more confiscated wildlife is transferred to rescue centers.

Most citizens of Vietnam will never see a wild pangolin in their own country; this is a tragedy! Pangolins, like many small carnivores in Vietnam, are being hunted to extinction for bush meat, traditional medicine and because of their beautiful skins.

Education is key!

In response to the urgent need for engaging wildlife education in Vietnam, Save Vietnam’s Wildlife is planning to open the Pangolin and Small Carnivore Education Center by the end of 2015.

Our plan is to construct an engaging wildlife education centre, full of interactive designs and immersive visitor experiences; new concepts in environmental education in Vietnam. Interactive and immersive experiences are powerful tools in education; encouraging visitors to explore wildlife issues, and evoking emotional responses in people.

We have received generous support, mainly from Welttierschutzgesellschaft e.V. (WTG) - a Germany based NGO improving the lives of thousands of animals worldwide, to build the Pangolin and Small Carnivore Education Center, but we need YOUR help to fit it out!

THEREFORE, WE ASK YOU TO HELP US OPEN THIS CONTEMPORARY WILDLIFE EDUCATION CENTER, SOMEWHAT A FIRST OF ITS KIND IN VIETNAM.

How will the education center work?

We will collaborate with Cuc Phuong National Park, where our center is located, to enable a wide range of visitors to learn about wildlife conservation at the Pangolin and Small Carnivore Education Center. Cuc Phuong is the most well-known national park in northern Vietnam, welcoming more than 50,000 visitors each year. Furthermore, we will provide tailored training to Cuc Phuong National Park tour guides, who will work with our own education staff to deliver guided visitor tours of the education center.

We will also cooperate with many national and international partners, schools and universities to host wildlife education tours at our rehabilitation center, and soon at the Pangolin and Carnivore Education Center. We are a well reputed organization in Cuc Phuong National Park, and have inspired thousands of students, specialists, researchers, officers and the media in Vietnam and abroad with our conservation messages. We are in a great position to reach a wide community with our conservation message.

How are your funds going to help?

Your donat ions will directly contribute to the creation of interactive designs in the Pangolin and Small Carnivore Education Center.

To reduce the costs, our communications staff, with strong backgrounds in graphic design, will create graphic content in-house; our team of wildlife keepers will help with painting the interior of the building.

$8,000 – total funding goal

- $900 - 6 twistable poles to introduce 35 species of small carnivores in Vietnam (Image 1).

- $2200 - 5 pull-out showcased models, including Sunda pangolin and small carnivore species rescued at Save Vietnam’s Wildlife (Image 2).

- $800 - 5 animal sound players (Image 2).

- $1150 - touchpad information kiosk, explaining the profiles and stories of SVW’s rescued animals (Image 6).

- $300 – interactive display, allowing visitors to zoom-in on wildlife threats (Image 3)

- $800 - 5 twistable boards introducing SVW’s 5 wildlife conservation functions (Image 4)

- $1200 – sticker photo booth with SVW’s animal photo frames (Image 5)

- About $650 to cover FundRazr and Payment Provider associated fees and charges.

If we exceed our fundraising targets, funds in excess of $8,000 will be used to create extra immersive and engaging visitor experiences in the Pangolin and Small Carnivore Education Center.
