The Hearts Company's mission is to provide educational resources to underprivileged children. Throughout 2020 we unfortunately had to pause all projects due to the pandemic at our flagship school in Cambodia. We are excited to announce that schools have finally reopened and our over 360 students are allowed to go back to school to continue their education!
During the shutdown, the classrooms infrastructures were worn down due to weather. We are looking to fundraising $20,000 to upgrade 3 classrooms to strong wood and concrete buildings to last the school for generations. Not only that, our teachers have gone without payment since the beginning so we are looking to also fund our teachers with a small salary of $50 a month per teacher. This amount may seem small to the average person, but is life changing to our teachers.

While we are still in a pandemic, we understand the importance of hygiene. To avoid the risk of the school being shut down, we want to provide each student and teach with a Sanitary Hygiene Kit. This would include mask, hand sanitizer and soap to make sure these students are staying sanitary and covid free during and in between classes.
$25 supplies a student with a backpack full of school supplies that provides them with all the tools that they will need to successfully complete the academic school year.
As our 11 teachers and 1 principal have been teaching at BFOK school for free for years, we'd like to be able to provide them with some financial support. Although a typical salary consist of $100 - $300 a month for teachers in government schools, we are hoping to at least pay them $50 per month per teacher for the next year and hopefully for many years to come. Most of these teachers work full time jobs as well as go to school, but because they know the importance of helping and teaching these students, they've given their time and effort to help teach these children daily!
It cost $150 to supply a student with supplies, food, clean drinking water, and transportation that they will need to successfully get them to and from school everyday! We have a total of 366 students at our school and are in need to supporting as many of them as possible. Almost all of the students come from very poor farming families where the annual household income is less than $300 a year... Anything helps, but to fund a child a student for an entire year with everything they need to be successful, including small things like clean drinking water and meals will be life changing.
Although basic school supplies are needed, laptop computers are also vital to advance our students education and important technological skills. In 2018 The Hearts Company was able to donate BFOK's first ever laptop computers. Since then, students have been learning basic computer skills like Microsoft 365, web searches, basic email knowledge and much more! The need for basic computer skill is absolutely crucial for these students for their future success and careers. The 15 computers donated previously from The Hearts Company just isn't enough for 366 students. Having more computers would make learning for effective and efficient. Donations of $300 and over will receive a bracelet and card handmade by the students of BFOK located in Siem Reap. With the $12,440 we will be able to build a new, sustainable building built of strong wood and concrete that will last for generations with minimal upkeep. A plaque will be placed on the building with the name of the donor in honor of contribution to the project!
