Freedom Communities is a nonprofit organization serving the Freedom Drive Corridor in West Charlotte through affordable housing, improving access to quality early education, and by serving as the "connective tissue" - bringing together and aligning those who live, work, and worship in the area. 

During this time, we’re raising emergency funds to assist the 166 children attending the Bright Future Learning Center and their families. Bright Future is an early education center serving children ages 0-5. Nearly 100% of families qualify and rely on child care subsidies to pay for their child's tuition. 

We are looking to raise $50 per child to cover some of the most pressing needs during this time. Some families have been let go from their jobs and even those who were not are struggling to find and afford baby diapers, formula, soap, toilet paper, and other hygiene products. 

Here's a note from one of the mothers:

"Being out of work has been very hard with pretty much taking care of two homes. Sharing a home with my 72 year old mother and my 4 nieces and with one that’s pregnant with her first baby. So trying to stretch food and feed all of us together barely having enough food and toiletries. Constantly running out of tissue, soap, and other hygiene products with the little bit of money that we do get it’s not enough to get what we need regularly. These are the challenges that we are facing through these hard times."
