I met Philbert at a gathering of African leaders in Kampala in 2007, and the following year we led a contemplative pilgrimage in Rwanda together, visiting genocide sites.  The work that he has done through REACH astonishes me, and Elisabeth and I have partnered with him since that time.

I hope now to broaden that partnership.  At this moment in the US, we need the skills of reconciliation and unity-building that the Rwandan people have learned and practice.

Two months ago, on a visit to the US, Philbert ended up in the ER with malaria and pneumonia.  Lacking health insurance, he accumulated a medical debt.

One thing that I have learned from Philbert:  "All the money belongs to God."  He has lived his life completely trusting in the provision of the Divine.  Wouldn't you like to part of that flow of grace?

The Rev. Philbert Kalisa is a man who devotes his life to service for others in need. He is an Anglican priest and founder of a wide-reaching non-profit organization called Reach Rwanda ( ) that has helped tens of thousands of Hutu and Tutsi Rwandans attain peace and reconcilation in the wake of the genocide that destroyed the social fabric of that nation.

Now Philbert needs our help. He is a Rwandan citizen but he co-locates between Rwanda, where his organization is, and Florida where his wife and 3 kids live and go to school. A few weeks ago he came to Florida to spend time with his family for Christmas. Shortly after arriving he was hospitalized with pneumonia and malaria. He spent 5 days in the ICU and had to undergo a battery of tests.

Thankfully, he is well on his way to recovery. However, being a non-resident he does not have medical coverage in the US. The hospital gave Philbert a dramatic discount on hospital services since he's a non-resident, but he is still saddled with a bill that is an enormous sum of money for him and his family to shoulder.

Please consider a donation to help free Philbert of this financial burden. Let's give to this man of love and service a measure of what he has given to tens of thousands of Rwandans through his work.
