Friends of the Arts in Brighton hasn't added a story.
Therese Schmid and Dr. Michael Liener are retiring after many years in Brighton. You can show your appreciation by donating to their chosen Legacy Project - scholarships for Summer Arts students! Friends of the Arts in Brighton (FAB) will even match all contributions up to $500. Honor these outstanding educators and double your impact.
Therese Schmid began her teaching career in 1981, and came to Brighton in 1997. In her 25 years in the district, Therese has led concert bands and BHS Jazz Ensemble, and taught Woodwin lessons. In retirement, Therese looks forward to cycling, winter sports, and spending time in the Adirondacks!
Dr. Liener joined the BCSD community in the fall of 2010 after 19 years as a teacher and administrator in the West Irondequoit Central School District. In Brighton, Mike started as an Assistant Principal at BHS and transitioned to Director of Innovative Student Learning in 2015. Over the last seven years, Mike has led Brighton’s educational technology integration initiatives including the support for users during the recent shift to a 1:1 computing environment to support student learning during the pandemic. At the same time, Mike oversaw and supported the work of a talented and creative team in the Visual and Performing Arts department. With Mike at the helm, the Visual and Performing Arts program has flourished with an emphasis on sharing the work of student performers and artists with the community.
