2 Years running

Our Story at Simply Living started 25 years ago!  We've been paying attention to our environmental "footprint" and building a community of like-minded people since we started in 1992. We've been providing "Communtiy Education for Sustainable Living"through our Earth Institute courses, documentary films, and meetups with our many partner organizations and local businesses. Together we learn about the many aspecits of sustainability - from the food we eat to the energy we use to the ways we get around town to the benefits of shopping local and revitalizing our neighborhoods. It's all part of "making the shift happen."

Today our message of living locally and sustainably is more relevant and timely than ever because of climate change! People are waking up to the need to change our wasteful ways much sooner than later.  Scientists tell us we have only a decade or two - not a century - to begin making systemic changes that will speed the transition to renewable energy, a healthy food system based on agro-ecology, and a new economy built around the needs of our communities, not the needs of multinational corporations and banks for short term profits.

Simply Living has been making changes to up our game and reachout to a wider audience of people who now "get" that we need to live more locally and sustainably. We hired a new director, Sarah Edwards, who has worked to expand our Board and recruit and mentor the next generation of environmental leaders. Millennials have worked to revise our website, create our new logo, re-design our newsletter, and dramatically improve our weekly update of community events from text only to full color graphics using MailChimp.

Simply Living is ready to make shift happen but our budget, while becoming more stable, needs a boost if we are to realize our new potential to communicate and educate more people about the fabulous resources and opportunities to engage with the Shift, aka the Transition to a sustainable society based on eco-friendly policies and practices.

Interns! We do have awesome volunteers but we believe that interns, hired at a near living wage of $12 and up per hour, will not only help us research and promote our events and support services to allies and collaborators, but will allow us to mentor and educate the next generation of leaders!

Our goal is to hire up to 3 interns whose assignments will vary, but all will require Internet skills and offer experience in research and managing social media sites.

Your contributions will truly help make shift happen! Simply Living is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organzations. Donations are tax deductible and appreciated!
