Thank you for your generosity in making a donation in memory of Joe Fisher! He had Corticobasal Degeneration, a very rare disorder. His family donated his precious brain to help others by enabling research into CBD. 

CBD is a neurodegenerative disorder with no known cause, treatment, or cure. It affects parts of the brain that control walking, coordination, balance, speech, vision, swallowing, cognition, personality, and behavior. Symptoms typically begin in the early or mid-60s. Those with CBD live, on average, 5-8 years after symptom onset. It is a challenging disorder for everyone involved.

CBD can be a difficult disease to diagnose because it can look like stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and Alzheimer's. It took several years for Joe Fisher to receive a CBD diagnosis.

Like many neurological disorders, the accuracy of a CBD diagnosis is very low. One reason is because the disorder is rare so most neurologists never see a single case in their lifetime. CBD can only be confirmed through brain donation. Mr. Fisher's family has donated his brain to the Mayo Clinic so that the diagnosis can be confirmed. Actually, we all benefit from this generous act because the medical research it enables helps us all.
