All across our nation midwives are being charged with the practice of medicine. Our options of where and with whom to bring our babies into this world are diminishing. As a result, women’s reproductive freedoms are being challenged. Unfortunately, due to high legal costs and intimidation many midwives choose to pay the fines and accept the charges, rather than fight this battle in the courts, where it can be won.

 Karen Webster has chosen to stand up for midwives and for women’s freedoms despite these difficulties. Karen was the first credentialed Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in Maryland and Delaware, and one of the first in Pennsylvania. She has been practicing the art of midwifery for 34 years. She is currently facing charges in both Maryland and Delaware for practicing medicine without a license and is facing substantial legal fees which may add up to over One Hundred Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars. She needs our support in order to continue this fight.
