Stop the Stigma of Mental Illness - Then What?
You Can Help Fund an Internet Video That Shares the Efforts of our Mental Health Coalition and Resulting Knowledge of 12+ Community Events With the World!
Hello, My name is Joya Comeaux, founder of the Family of Light World Peace Ministries (FOL). Over the years we have found that video and media is the way to get the word out to a global audience. Therefore, we created a nonprofit focused on media: WorldPeaceProductions.org (WPP).
Working with existing nonprofits and service providers, WPP collaborates with volunteer-based projects that focus on the use of film to provide education, community engagement and solution-oriented resource awareness via film driven events.
Over the years we have focused on Nonviolence, Women Empowerment, and other such timely topics, and now we have added films that are focused on Mental Health.
As the world seems to be more and more affected by some form of drug or alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, dementia, depression, suicide, schizophrenia, and other such forms of mental illness, it is becoming more and more important to "stop the stigma" and get to the root of the issues and solutions.
This video production made for the Internet (using the information shared at our Mental Health Week events) will find out what you or someone you know can do to help those affected by mental illness. This WPP production will help us to share that information with the world.
MentalHealthFest.com is the product of a collaboration WorldPeaceProduction.org (WPP) working with the MentalHealthCoalitionVV.org. During Mental Health Week – May 11-16, we are producing 12+ FREE Community Service Events. WPP needs to raise $2k=$2.5k to film these events, and create a video production that captures all of the speakers, discussions, and stories of participants.
Right now, those efforts will only be shared with our local community. Our Coalition has worked tirelessly for many months to produce these events, and it would be such a shame not to share these efforts & information with the world.
All of our speakers are experts in the field, and our topics include: Recovery; Alternative Health for Mental Illness; Mental health and Children; Treating the Whole Person; In Our Own Voices; the Arts: Using Sound, Dance, Spoken Word, and Painting to Heal; Overcoming a Family History of Suicide; and The Faces of Compassion for Mental Illness.
With your help we can not only educate our local community on How To overcome and stop the stigma of mental illness, but we can create an online video that can have a global impact on educating how to use and share WPP videos to better understand and advocate for change in your life, your community and in this growing issue effecting our global society. CANVAS is the "kickoff" movie of our MentalHealthFest.com. The filmmaker, Joseph Greco, will be on hand to sign copies of the film's DVD. Donations of $35 or more shall receive an autographed copy of the film's DVD, signed by Joe Greco, as well as sponsorship acknowledgement on our website blog. CANVAS is a true story of Joe Greco's experiences as a child, growing up with a mother with Mental Illness. Winner of many awards, Joe has also worked on such films as the Titanic, and other such productions.
