Hi, all my wonderful supporters! I wanted to reach out to you all to Thank You once more, and let you know what great things have been happening as a result of your generosity to help me make my short proof-of-concept film, THE SOUND OF DARKNESS. Since I fell short of full funding, the completed project is still waiting the final stage of a sound edit. But I edited a trailer from the footage, and I created the website www.soundofdark.com and the following has happened as a result: * The script was chosen for the NY Stage & Film Filmmaking workshop (July 2017), where my mentors were producer Josh Astrachan (IT FOLLOWS and 10 Altman films), actor/director Jennifer Westfeldt, and film critic Mia Mask. * The script was selected for the Stowe Story Labs and won the Tangerine Entertainment Fellowship (September 2017 and where I am now!) My mentors include Alex Boden, producer of Sense 8. * I signed a deal to re-write and direct a feature film for Tandem Pictures! (Producer of THE EYES OF MY MOTHER, which played Sundance last year). * The talent manager for Chadwick Boseman (BLACK PANTHER) and Tessa Thompson (CREED, Westworld) has just requested the script to consider for them. It's because of your belief in me and my project that these wonderful steps towards the production of the feature version of THE SOUND OF DARKNESS are happening. I owe some of you signed posters, and until the sound editor is secured, watch for a credit screen update to the trailer. Being a working mom full time during this has had its challenges, but my vision and passion are focused and strong, and your patience with the process has been deeply appreciated. All My Best, Melody
