Mohammed Schools of Atlanta is a private religious school located in Atlanta, Ga. Mohammed Schools of Atlanta was the first full accredit Pre-K through 12th grade academic school serving the religious needs of both Muslim and non-Muslim families in the metro-Atlanta area. In 2001, Mohammed Schools of Atlanta established its very own gymnasium and educational complex. The facility, built by skilled craftsman’s, parents, students and community supporters, include five classrooms, four office areas and 300-capacity basketball gymnasium.
The Mohammed Schools’ athletics program provides opportunities for instruction, participation and growth. The program enhances the academic experience while fostering positive relationships and teamwork among students and strengthens the community. Mohammed Schools’ athletics program provides varied levels of competition for each student athlete. The program encourages them to strive to demonstrate their athletic mastery through learning, training and exhibition while promoting healthy competition, sportsmanship, teamwork and excellence.
The school athletics program has been a cornerstone of the school’s overall program for over 20 years. We established both basketball and soccer programs for our elementary, middle and high schools. Throughout this time, we’ve placed the student athletes in positions where we’re assisting them with training and practice with the notion of “doing best we can with what we got.” We we’re renting out gyms to hold our home basketball games to using the local YMCAs to play soccer matches.
In 2000, we finally established our own basketball gym. However, we never established a training facility with it. Once it became apparent to have one, we reached out to the community to receive donated equipment and materials to establish one. And while the initial actions are appreciated, the need for an appropriate facility cannot be ignored. In its essence, to stay in competitive position with other schools, it is a necessity that has been recognized.
