Wave Tenugui

A Perk for contributing €13 or more

Kokenchiai
Frequently translated as  “We learn love by crossing swords together” , this Kendo saying sums one of the most noble aspects of our practice. The waves are symbolic of our city – Porto, a city molded by its relationship with the sea and river – and also of the connection of the Portuguese to Japan. The logo on this design is a legacy from Porto’s old coat of arms, a black dragon on top of the duke's crown.
This tenugui is being made in Japan, following the traditional method.

Final design (details arising from traditional manufacture) may vary from pictured (a mockup from the design)

Kendo Cycle Tote Bag
€8 Suggested + shipping
Ships Worldwide

Kendo – beer – sleep – repeat.
It is not mandatory but it is a routine that is universally acknowledged: after a hard Kendo session there’s nothing like a cold beer! As for sleep, well…let’s just say that  nomikai have to end sometime before  asageiko, right? Right…?
Our tote bag is made in Portugal from 140g fine cotton, with double-sided printing. The other side displays the Porto logo, a legacy from Porto’s old coat of arms, a black dragon on top of the duchal crown. A flowing sash on the dragon’s neck reads INVICTA – undefeated – a title bestowed upon the city for it’s unwavering fighting spirit.
38cm wide and 42cm in depth, this bag is perfect to show your Kendo life to the world and stylishly transporting your neatly-folded hakama (or just for grocery shopping).

Kendo – Cerveja – Dormir – Repetir

In January 2023 we will be going to Japan to study Kendo in different dojos and under high-ranking Sensei. We want to learn as much as we can so we can return and share what we’ve absorved and contribute to the development of Kendo in Porto and Portugal.
