This fundraiser is to help our mom purchase a headstone for our father, Gene Mooneyham, who passed away in July, 2023. If enough funds are raised we would like to purchase a double headstone. This would eliminate the financial burden of purchasing a headstone for my mom in the future. Any amount you feel led to give would be greatly appreciated.

Funeral services for Q.T. “Gene” Mooneyham will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home located at 7774-A Highway 39 North in Meridian, MS, with Bro. Danny Bullock and Bro. Tony Chancelor officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time. A graveside service will follow for immediate family at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Pearl, MS with Scott McClure officiating.
Q.T. “Gene” Mooneyham, son of Q.T. Mooneyham, Sr. and Maggie Teague Mooneyham, was born on May 6, 1950, in Calhoun City, MS. On June 19, 1969, he was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Netherland Mooneyham, and together they were blessed with four daughters and ten grandchildren, to whom he was known as “Papaw”. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
Papaw loved to spend his time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with his many friends and being with family. He was regarded and loved for his strength and selflessness – always ready and willing to help care for others. Most importantly, Papaw loved Jesus. In January 2013, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and for the remainder of his life, served as an amazing example of the sacrificial love of Christ.
His life is fondly remembered and cherished by his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters Gena Harris of Meridian, MS; Melissa McClure (Scott) of Enterprise, MS; Mandy Kleinman (Tom) of Katy, TX and Shonda Slayton of Meridian, MS; grandchildren Shane Holloman (Taylor) of Hattiesburg, MS; John Robert Harris of Greenwood, MS; Corey and Zoie McClure of Enterprise, MS; Jake and Josh Kleinman of Katy, TX; Kenleigh and Jace Slayton of Meridian, MS; Emma and Anna McHann of Mathiston , MS; siblings Darlene Cross (John) of Pelahatchie, MS and Roger Mooneyham of Whitfield, MS; numerous nieces and nephews and countless others who came to cherish him as their own Papaw.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Q.T. and Maggie Mooneyham; brothers Butch, Ellis, and Howard Mooneyham; sisters Melisa Mooneyham and Sue Stewart.
Pallbearers will be John Robert Harris, Shane Holloman, Jake Kleinman, Tom Kleinman, Corey McClure and Scott McClure.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Arc of Katy in honor of Mr. Mooneyham’s grandson, Josh Kleinman, who is on the Autism Spectrum. The Arc of Katy is a day program for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome, and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Donations can be made at thearcofkaty.org.
