Our Motto
Our children are not 'incompatible with life’ - but they are compatible with love
On 12/12/2014 Karisa, Jeremy and lil Cole were blessed with the wonderful news that Karisa was pregnant. They were ecstatic when they were given the news. Since that day they have been rejoicing and planning for their new addition to the family. Karisa’s pregnancy in the beginning was like any other normal pregnancy. Her and the baby were doing well and having regular doctor visits. In March they had an ultra sound and were first informed they were having a girl. Then they got the news that it may not be a girl, and were scheduled for another ultrasound. On March 20th they had another ultra sound and it was official they were having a BOY they were naming Jace Roland Copley ! All was well and plans for the new addition were being made!
In April Karisa was experiencing some difficulties and on April 9th her doctors did a blood test. They didn’t like what they saw, so they sent her to a high risk pregnancy doctor. The Doctor did some tests and told her she needed to have an amniocentesis test done. She had it done on 4/30/2015 and got the results back shortly after. They were given the heartbreaking and devastating news that their little baby Jace had Trisomy 18 and Spina Bifida.
If you’re not familiar with these diseases I will give a short synopsis and also post a link you may click on to learn more
Trisomy 18 is very rare and is not hereditary. It is not brought on by any fault of the mother or father. It occurs when a baby has three chromosomes in the eighteenth position instead of the normal two. It is also called Edwards syndrome, and is the second most common trisomy, after Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). It occurs in about 1:5000 to 1:18000 births. Unlike Down syndrome Trisomy 18 is usually fatal, with most of the babies dying before birth and those who do make it to birth typically living only a few days. However, a small number of babies (10%) live at least one year. In Trisomy 18 babies, it is as if they don't quite get finished developing. For example, their brains are not properly developed; certain neurons don't make it all the way to the outside of the brain but remain in little clusters throughout the brain. This means that they will frequently have problems doing basic, instinctive, functions like sucking, swallowing, and breathing. And it is impossible to know the extent of these problems until the baby is born. Some other typical problems are holes in the heart that don't close, openings in the back (spina bifida) and stomach (omphalocele), and organs that are not properly formed.

As you can see this was devastating news to them and the prognosis is not good. Being the people of faith they are and believing in “Gods Will” and the “Right to Life” they have decided to go full term with the baby and put it in the Lords hands. They are well aware of all the complications they may face but also know the power of God, as they have already witnessed one miracle when the baby’s father was brought back from an accident that doctors to this day have no explanation as to why he is alive.
As you can imagine they are incurring tremendous expenses with this high risk pregnancy. Long and frequent commutes to the doctors, medicine, etc., etc. In order to offset some expenses they decided to move and leave the house they just got, to be closer to the doctors and hospital. They could really use a hand up. I personally am heartbroken and honestly having a hard time typing all this. I couldn’t imagine the heartbreak and emotions that they have to deal with.
We ask that if you can find it in your heart to help this couple during this very difficult time that it would be appreciated more than you may ever know.
There is also a Facebook group support page anyone may join to follow Jace’s journey and show support also. https://www.facebook.com/groups/JaceCopley/
Thank you for your time and any consideration, it is truly appreciated.
To God be the GLORY!
