Cynthia Murphy hasn't added a story.
"You were my life's one great romance
And I will always see you dancing through my dreams
And as hopeless as it seems, I will always love you"
-Dan Fogelberg
My name is Cynthia Murphy. I am mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. I feel like I have no where to turn. I lost the love of my life, my soul mate, best friend, of 40+ years.
My husband was an incredible man that did a lot for his community. He help start a non-profit organization called Vetspace. To help homeless veterans. He was a veteran himself. Before that, he was the director a Spousal Abuse Shelter in Tampa Bay, Florida. He was a devout Catholic. He would give someone the shirt off his back without giving a second thought.
Then on April 9th 2012, our world was turned upside down. With the
words, "oranged sized glioblastoma grade four in the left frontal
lobe" and "he has two to four weeks to live".
He
had emergency brain surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. We all
fought hard but lost the battle the day after Christmas, 2012.
Throughout the disease process, we were able to acess social security and veterans benefits. I had not realized that he had let his life insurance laspe. And along with going through the shock of grieveing processes, we found out that we barely had enough money for his funeral. At this point, I have strechted out any favors or help from family that they could. My daughter and I are desparately trying to sell the house, and our being crushed with finacial challenges such as, a 1994 Chevy Suburban, that feels like it's on it's last journey every time we leave the driveway. I am a giver at heart and HATE to ask someone to help me, but I am desparate to get a cushion of safety between the phenomenal financial stress and wanting desparately to be financially self-sufficient. As hard as we are working to get out of the house, there are so many issues because it's an older house. For example, the plumbing, the structural issues, the broken appliances, etc. Every time we think we are going to get ahead, something falls apart. Hence the desparte need for a cushion so I could actually take a deep breath. My daughter and I are trying to work outside the home, but transportation, phones, food, and having no healthcare present quite the challenge.
My deepest hope is that someone could help me now and as I'm sure I can get back up on my feet, I'd love to help someone in kind.
To hear more about my husband, our local news did a story on him that
