Karen Lloyd hasn't added a story.
When we rescued her in 2010 she was only about 6 months old. Sadly we believe had been abandoned as no one ever came forward. She quickly captured our hearts with her affectionate yet spunky nature full of high speed antics and propensity for seeking trouble. She has been sick now since Friday, July 12, 2013, requiring several visits to multiple vets as well as one trip to the emergency vet, 2 x-rays, blood-work, urinalysis, and medications. As I'm currently out of work due to my own serious medical condition of chronic Lyme disease, Solstice and I need your help with the mounting vet bills.
Why She Matters:
Solstice has been a tremendous help to me as I have struggled with Lyme - giving me hope, making me laugh, cheering me up with her antics, and always sharing love. She's been strongly bonded with my 6 year old rabbit Squirrel for 2 1/2 years ~ to watch them together is the essence of what is most important in life. She's intelligent, affectionate and completely house-trained - uses a litterbox and is free roaming 24/7. She's also quite possibly the most beautiful rabbit I've ever seen with her "mo-hawk" tuft of fuzz between her ears, velvety fur and stunning spotted coat. In person, her special nature has converted people fearful of bunnies to giving her treats and massage.
The Medical Scoop:
Her usual playful self stopped eating and playing on Friday, July 12, 2013. X-rays showed no blockage or obstruction so she underwent blood-work and urinalysis. Unfortunately today (7/16) we received word from her vet that her kidney and liver results came back very abnormal. Tomorrow (7/17) she needs to return to the vet for an entire day of IV fluids in the hope to flush out high levels of toxins. They will need to perform more blood-work after the IV fluids to determine if it is improving her condition. The vets are still trying to determine the root cause.
We're force feeding her Oxbow Critical Care in addition to giving her Metacam (for pain relief), Simethicone drops (for gas relief), Baytril (antibiotic for suspected infection) and Reglan (for gut motility). She has had 3 rounds of sub-Q fluids as of yesterday 7/15.
Solstice is my bunny daughter and as beloved as any cat or dog ever could hope to be. Please HELP us as we try to get her back to her awesome spunky self! Thank you!
