Lucky Dog Rescue, Inc. hasn't added a story.
When you are running a rescue it’s a constant state of trying to balance the chaos and the vet bills, its our normal. But sometimes it seems like all the “tough” cases come all at once, and usually at the most inopportune times.
Unfortunately, that seems to be us at Lucky Dog right now. We have had quite a few dogs in the past month that have had unexpected, and expensive medical bills. So we are reaching out to our supportive Lucky Dog community to ask for your help.
In the past month we have brought in some dogs that have “broke the bank” so to speak. But like always, they were so deserving, and so very worth it.
This is Kieran and Killian, they are bonded pair of 1.5 year old poodles. They were owner surrenders after a break up who were supposed to be perfectly healthy. Unfortunately, after one night in a foster home it was clear that was not the case. Kieran had bloody urine and seemed to be in pain. We had to get quite a bit of test run as we couldn’t pinpoint the problem. Initially, they suspected kidney stones, but after some more test we discovered it was an inflamed bladder that had gotten pretty bad with infection. The tests and meds costs us well over $1000 by the time all was said and done. But we are so very happy that these young pups are now happy and on their way to being healthy for their soon to be forever family!
This poor pup is Maco. He was found at 8 weeks old and we took him in only to find out he had parvo. Thank goodness we found him in time and were able to get him the treatment needed to save his life. His bills are already at $600 with a few vet visits in the near future.
Hammy is a shar pei that we rescued from county who is the sweetest little thing. Unfortunately, Hammy has terminal cancer and we are providing a home and meds for her so she can live out her time in a loving and comfortable environment instead of a loud, cold shelter.
Jackson is a 3 year old lab mix that was found a stray and had valley fever. He is as sweet as can be, receiving much needed meds and time to recover in a loving foster home.
Tony, a basenji mix, is another county intake that has a severe upper respiratory infection. We don’t know the extent of the bills yet, but we do know its going to be costly.
We also have had about 8 owner surrenders (quite a few of which are seniors) in the past month and are extremely short on fosters going into the summer vacation season so our boarding bills are adding up very quickly!
These are just a few of the current medical cases we have at the moment. We are hoping that are amazing supporters can help us raise money for these bills. We have $4500 that needs to be raised ASAP but would like to get to $5500 to help with the upcoming Memorial Day weekend because it is a weekend were there are always a lot of owner surrenders as people are looking to get rid of their dogs before vacation.
Remember, every donation helps! We are a 501c3, so your donation is 100% tax deductible! If you have a question of any of these dogs or about the rescue, please email us at info@luckydogrescue.org
Thank you all for your continued support! We couldn’t be more grateful to be apart of this amazing community.
