Dear friends,                                                       

 

            How are you doing? I hope that God is doing many wonderful things in your life. I am having a wonderful year at Oakland community college, and feeling God’s will to do more for the world around me. I want to share a challenging ministry opportunity that God has presented to me. On August 9th 2014, I will have the opportunity to go on my second mission trip to Guatemala with a team of 22 others. It was just two years ago when I went on my first mission’s trip to the Philippines where I stayed with young girls and boys that were saved from sex trafficking. What an amazing blessing to be there to show love to the children and help out in any way possible where they so desperately needed it. I will never forget these kids and I still am in contact with some of them to this day! Now I will have the opportunity to help in Guatemala with my very own church! We will be finishing up construction on building classrooms for a school located in one of the poorest regions of the country and will be working at feeding centers at two different locations where poor kids can get a hot meal..

 

            While God has opened up a door for me to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people around the world, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this compassion in several ways. First, you can help pray for me and my fellow team. We will need prayers that God will prepare us for our visit and bless our efforts as we minister to the people in Guatemala. We will also need prayer that our financial needs will be met. At this time, we will need to raise $1,600 each to attend this trip, and that is quite a challenge! I will need to raise all my funds by August 9th, in order to pay for airline tickets and other items for the trip.
