With your help, the Salvation Army's gym in Lincoln, Nebraska, can get a new coat of paint and continue to serve the community in style. The labor will all be volunteer, but we need some money to buy supplies and equipment.

I went to the Salvation Army last holiday season with my school to help with their after school program and noticed that the gym was looking run down. The Salvation Army here in Lincoln uses its gym for lots of important community programs like Small Fry basketball, summer camps, after school programs, and Teen Nights. On the nights the Salvation Army holds Teen Night, the crime rate goes down 50% in the surrounding neighborhood.

I wanted to do something to help my community, so I'm organizing a project to paint the gym for my Eagle Scout project. If you want to give the city of Lincoln, Nebraska, and the Salvation Army a Christmas present this year, please join me. Here's what we'll need:

  • $985 to buy paint and supplies and rent scissor lifts and ladders.
  • food to keep the hard-working volunteers energized
  • drop cloths (hopefully we can borrow instead of buy)
  • people to volunteer
  • enthusiasm!

If you can't donate money but would like to come help paint, we'll be setting up and taping the gym on December 26th and then painting on December 27th and 28th. It's going to be lots of fun, and you'll feel good every time you drive down 27th Street and see The Shield.

Use the following link to sign up for a time slot if you'd like to help paint:

Thanks for donating to this worthwhile project. Your Christmas present to the city of Lincoln and the Salvation Army will be enjoyed by a whole community for years to come.
