Nathan Izel Moreno Hernandez hasn't added a story.
My name is Maricela Hernandez and I would like to share my experience with you. I was diagnosed with an Incompetent Cervix in 2006 after losing our son Marcos Jr.Moreno Hernandez at 22 weeks gestation. You may be wondering what an Incompetent cervix is? An incompetent cervix, also called an insufficient cervix, is a condition that occurs when weak cervical tissue causes or contributes to premature birth or the loss of an otherwise healthy pregnancy. The treatment for an incompetent or weakened cervix is a procedure that sews the cervix closed to reinforce the weak cervix. This procedure is called a cerclage and is usually performed between 14 and 16 weeks of pregnancy.
In 2010 my husband Marcos and I decided to have another child, and were referred to one of the top high risk pregnancy groups in Phoenix. At 17 weeks gestation I had an emergency cerclage placed. Unfortunately the cerclage only lasted until 24 weeks gestation. On August 31, 2010 Nathan Izel Moreno Hernandez was born weighing 1 lb. 12 oz., and 13 inches long. Nathan spent 9 months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Six short weeks after being released we rushed Nathan back to Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH). Nathan had gone into liver failure and needed a liver transplant. At the age of 1 Nathan received a transplant at University Medical Center (UMC) in Tucson Arizona. After receiving this GIFT Nathan spent 6 months in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at UMC. After many struggles and stays in the hospital Nathan earned his angel wings on November 10, 2012. In March 2013 we were blessed with a positive pregnancy test , I had the cerclage (stitch) done early on the pregnancy, everything was going smooth, until June 18,2013 I woke up in pain and bleeding our son Angel Moreno was born sleeping that night at 18 weeks gestation, my stitch had failed and caused me to go to preterm labor.
When Nathan was at both PCH and UMC, Marcos and I had to make many changes in our lives. Traveling back and forth, with only one income took a toll on our finances as well as our relationship. The constant stresses of watching our child fight for his life, as well as the past due bills and collection calls was almost unbearable.
As a tribute to the sons we have lost we would like to invite you to join us in our first annual Christmas Family Benefit , Money donated will be give to families in need in the hospital. There are so many things that families need whether they spend a week, month, or a year in the hospital , Having to spend the holidays in the hospital with your baby is stressful enough so why not help these families out with a donation. $1, $2, $5, $10, every little bit helps
please help us make a difference ♥

thank you
