I am so very sad. I just found out. I lost two of my very best UCLA friends today. Dr. Onik Arian was swept out to sea by a wave and Kalai passed this Thanksgiving. These two men were very different yet they both stood out because of their intelligence and charm. I have so many special memories with both. They allowed me to be a part of their families. Kalai and I had some truly great adventures into art, philosophy, filmmaking, and just plain crazy stuff that young men do. I'll be praying for both of them. I send my love to their respective families. I feel very lucky to have crossed paths with my brothers Onik and Woody they both impacted my life in a very special way that only the word "friend" can come close to the marrow. They knew me as Shoe and only they know why.
