CANINE ASSISTANT FOR AUTISM
This is my story and so I am asking for donations to help with all the expense of giving me the best friend that I need.
Hi my name is Bryce and I am 5 1/2 years old. When I was 4 1/2 years
old I was diagnosed with ASD and SPD. These two diagnosis causes great
complications in my life that I am trying to overcome. So I am trying
to raise money for me to have an Autism Assistant Service Canine. Both
of these disorders cause me to have several special problems. But my
canine service dog will be able to help me cope a lot better with
these disabilities. My ASD causes me to have delayed speech
development so I am classified as non-verbal. My verbal vocabulary is
very limited but I am smart enough to understand what you are saying
to me. But I can't communicate back to you very well. This at times
can become very frustrating and cause me to have meltdowns. I look
like your typical kid but once you hear me you know I have a lot of
obstacles that I am trying to over come. If you happen to see me
walking you will notice that I walk on my toes. This causes me to be a
clumsy walker at times. My motor skills are delayed as well. So I
can't do the things that a normal 5 year old would do. I try to feed
my self but my grip and grasp are very weak. So I am just getting to
the point of really trying hard to hold a pencil so that I can do
school work. With all of this I am also very fearless. I don't have
the concept of danger. My parents have to keep a good hold on me when
we go out because I will take off running. Or go up to strangers and
try to talk to them. So because of these issues we don't go out much
as a family. I also have a Sensory overload is as well that causes me
to have meltdowns as well. A lot of things going on around me can
cause me to have sensory overload.
But if I can get me a canine that is specially trained just for
me. It would be trained to learn how to detect when these things are
going on and how to defuse the problem so that it is short lived. And
this would help me out in the long run and help me to focus on new
actions. It would be my very own personal canine assistant that would
respond to me and my needs. It would know me and how to make
everything better. It would be responsible for keeping me safe from
strangers and danger. Also help me with my motor skills by having me
to hold on to its leash. He will also be trained to help me with my
meltdowns and sensory issues as well. Maybe then it wouldn't be such a
BIG deal for me to go out and enjoy the world. We would be able to go
on family outings. And maybe I can gain a little more independence. My
canine would be tethered to me so I can't run off and he will be able
to help me keep my balance. He would understand me and know what I
need and how to give it to me. I am hoping that if I can raise enough
money for a canine assistant that eventually he will be able to
accompany me to school. That would be awesome. I can have my best
friend that doesn't judge me and loves me unconditionally with me at
all times. But in order for me to get my best friend I am going to
have raise money to go to Kansas to stay for a week for training. And
be able to pay for the canine to bring him back home with me. You can
give your donations to my PayPal Account.
