Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Department in Montgomery County, Maryland does not have pet oxygen masks on their units that respond to fires.  How do I know this?  Well....

On May 14, 2014, my house caught fire while I was working as a Montgomery County police officer. I had two dogs within the house, both pictured above. Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded and was able to get the dogs out of the house. Sadly, the dog pictured on the left, Frenzy, died due to smoke inhalation. Quest, pictured on the right, was pulled from the fire with extreme breathing difficulties. MCFRS was able to provide Quest with oxygen using a pediatric mask meant for humans. This was extremely helpful at the fire and aided in Quest's speedy and full recovery.

The mask used by MCFRS that day was human specific but in a pinch is adaptable to pets. I'm working with MCFRS to obtain pet specific masks that would be on their ambulance and medic units. Their budget does not allow for the county to purchase these, but they will gladly accept donations.  These masks would be reusable.

Any amount towards our goal would be greatly appreciated as would a share to pass this onto other people.
