Yayasan IDEP Selaras Alam hasn't added a story.
On Friday afternoon Donggala and Palu were hit by a series of earthquakes including a 7.5 on the Richter Scale that triggered a tsunami of at least 1.5m. The quakes and tsunami have left the cities of Palu and Donggala severely damaged with hundreds dead, thousands injured and many people still missing. The airport has been reopened for aid only despite major damage to the buildings.
Donggala: Currently Donggala is without power, and telecommunications infrastructure was damaged making it difficult to communicate needs to the outside world or contact loved ones. Many are currently evacuating with others still scattered in open areas awaiting the all clear from relevant parties. Logistics have also been hampered by damaged roads and the telecommunications issues.
Palu: The situation in Palu is similar with thousands evacuating to avoid further shocks or tsunamis and there are reports of 386 people killed and thousands more injured (Source: Basarnas).
Current situation: Currently the “Poso Volunteer Team” (Emergency Response team from the neighbouring town of Poso) consists of Yayasan Pribumi Alam Lestari (YPAL)/IDEP, KPA Tarpesis, and Student Groups from Sintuwu Maroso Poso University
The Main ER Coordination Post has been established at the YPAL Office: JL Ki Hajar Dewantoro, Lombugia Village, Utara Sub District, Poso Kota. Currently the coordination post is used as transit logistics assistance from the Luwuk-Ampana and Tentena regions
Priority items for distribution are
- Refuge tents / Tarps
- Drinking Water and Clean Water
- Healthy food
- Blankets
- Sanitation supplies
- insect repellent
IDEP Emergency Relief period: one month (up to October 30, 2018) to supply basic emergency items for affected families
We Need Your Help
IDEP Foundation will assist refugees in Donggala and Palu with essentials such as clean water, food, medicines, blankets and tarps but we need your help to do this, please give generously. Any money raised will go directly to providing much needed assistance to those who have been hurt and displaced by the quake and tsunami.
Family Buckets
IDEP have used Family Buckets to support the people of Lombok and Mount Agung and they have proved to be a very fair and effective way to distributing aid. Each bucket contains enough basic staples, such as blankets, food, insect repellents and sanitation supplies, to support a family for about 2 weeks. For Donggala and Palu the buckets will be assembled and distributed from the nearby city of Poso.
