Monty is our precious Autism Assistance Dog Guide.  He is our son's best friend and our guardian angel.  He is critically ill with what emergency vets believe to be a rare skin disease: sterile nodular panniculitus.

This disease is ravaging his body.  He is covered in lumps, his lymph nodes are swollen and he has pustules on his body 2-4cm in size that are painfully swollen to the touch.  When I carried him from the car to the ER, several burst onto me - filled with blood.

Monty is on pain medication and antibiotics until a skin specialist can see him on Tuesday morning, where we hope to get a favourable/treatable diagnosis.  We are so scared for him.

Our son, Jalen (5 years), can't understand what is happening.  He came with me to the Vet and hugged the Vet and said to her; "Doctor, fix my Monty!"  All this communication and interaction with others was non-exisitent until Monty was a part of our lives.  Jalen does not understand that he cannot touch Monty, let alone sleep together in bed tonight.  It is so difficult to see Monty in pain and then watch Jalen's reaction to it.  He keeps asking his Mummy to put a bandaid on him.

So far we have spent $1,300 to ensure that Monty is pain free and as comfortable as possible, while further diagnostic testing is arranged.  On Tuesday, we will be looking at paying another $1,300 for his skin specialist and hopefully a firm diagnosis.  Based on this, further treatments will be required.  If it is the panniculitus, this could be three months of intensive medication and then tablets for the rest of his life.

I am currently at home on maternity leave caring for our 7 month old son.  My husband works long, hard hours in retail - but we are definitely not in a financial postion to carry these bills....but we have put it all on credit cards and are hoping for the best.

If there is anyway that you could please contribute to help us to help Monty, we would be eternally grateful.

Monty has been such an amazing blessing to my family - we have been able to go to the cinemas for the first time, can wait patiently in shopping centre checkout queues, but most importantly - when Jalen is tethered to Monty in public, we know that our little boy is SAFE.

Thank you for your consideration.

With love and best wishes -

Gina (Mummy), Cory (Daddy), Jalen (5yrs), Iverson (7mths) and of course MONTY XXXXX
