On November 15th, 2014, Langley Township will head to the polls to elect new representatives for their community.   I am running for the position of Langley Township Councillor - a position in which I can affect positive change for our Township.  For more information regarding what I stand for, please visit my website www.jackiemandzak.com

Your help with this fundrazr campaign will assist me in running a campaign that is visible to all and I thank you. If you can share this with other Township residents, that would be extremely appreciated.  I do ask that, in the name of transparency - something residents have been asking for - you do not donate anonymously. Please note: anonymous donations over $50 are prohibited and must be remitted to Elections BC.  I also prefer not to accept donations from developers, as this has been a contentious issue.  In return for your support in this campaign, my promise to you is that I will listen to the needs of residents in order to ensure that our Township grows in a way that is respectful and responsible.

Six years ago we chose to move to Brookswood, in Langley, as we wanted a home where we could settle and raise our young family.  We loved the idea that we could get almost everything we needed within Brookswood Village. As well, across the Township we have been able to patronize a multitude of businesses and activities. We are active with the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) at our school and have become part of the community of Brookswood.  For us, Langley is the best place to live and we are incredibly happy with our choice.

I work as a mediator for the Federal Government, where I am in charge of my agency’s Informal Conflict Management System in the Pacific Region.  In a nutshell, I help people work through conflict to find a collaborative solution that every party contributes to and can move forward with.  Along with the mediation aspect, I am also an educator/facilitator and often work with different levels of management, other regions, and government agencies.   The skills I have acquired would be incredibly beneficial as a Township Councillor.

In the past I have volunteered with the SPCA as their Volunteer Coordinator, have worked for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind coordinating the volunteers raising guide dog puppies, and had a position on the strata council for my previous home. Within the Brookswood community, I spoke against the previous Official Community Plan (OCP) and worked with others to hold a very successful rally of the residents. Currently I am PAC President at Noel Booth Elementary. Working with people to make a positive difference is my passion and I hope to make an impact on the way the Township of Langley moves forward.
