Ola! As many people know my bro has epilepsy (not to mention he is seriously challenged in many other ways). I figured instead of buying him a semi-meaningless birthday gift and feeling resentful because he didn't remember my birthday, I would do a triathlon by myself to raise money for the Edmonton Epilepsy Association!

There is currently no cure for epilepsy. There are medications that patients can take, but even these have very heavy side effects. My bro is currently on medications that cause him to be extremely tired most of the time. I have watched him fight this and go to the gym everyday and train to be incredibly strong. He has't allowed epilepsy, nor the side effects of these drugs to stop him. He inspires me because I have been blessed enough to not have any physical or neurological issues. This is why I want to do a triathlon for him. I am not doing it in a competition, as that is not the point for me. I have created a route I will take and it will follow the official guidelines of what a sprint triathlon is: 750 meters (0.47 miles) swim, 20 kilometers (12 miles) bike, 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) run. (Although, I am going to increase the swim to 1 km and the bike will be 22km, as that is the distance of the Vancouver Seawall.)

I am going to raise $2000 for him/the Edmonton Epilepsy Association. If you feel so inclined to help be a part of this, I/we would greatly appreciate it. Cheers, to my little bro who drops 'n shakes!
