Jennifer Pyjas is a beautiful 33 year old who should be enjoying her brand new home in Greenville, SC and planning the family she has always wanted. Her days should be filled with the paintings she loves to create, walking her fur-baby Boxer pup Buster, and going to her favorite music concerts with her husband, Eric.
Instead, Jenn and her husband have spent the last several months far from home at The Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. While on vacation visiting family and friends Jenn relapsed with Acute Myleoid Leukemia. So on July 4th, while everyone else cooked out in their backyards and waited with anticipation for a beautiful fireworks display, Jenn was receiving the most devastating news a cancer survivor could hear. "The cancer is back".
And so began her long journey of tests, therapies, surgeries, and daily chemo to get her ready for her SECOND Bone Marrow Transplant.
Still, Jenn faces each day with dedication and a fire in her that will never be put out. She has shown courage and resilience with every set back. She has chosen to fight this battle and we all believe that she will be healed again!
Jenn and her family have shown great support and compassion to her community and to others in time of need. And this beautiful girl who would do anything for anyone else, would be the last person to ask for help. Infact, Jenn refused a benefit when she was first diagnosed in October 2011. The cost of her treatments, being out of work, and having to live in a different state, adds up. Because they are so far from home, The Pyjas' health insurance is out of network and insurance is not covering her treatments, or her bone marrow transplant.
