Daiquiri had to have emergency back surgery on 7/30. It was $5,100. Then she had to go back to the vet and have a urinalysis and that visit was $350. The same night we had to go to the ER because she was breathing strange & they started to send us home saying it was just anxiety from her UTI pain and back surgery. The first bill was $150. Then she rapidly declined and we didn't leave, they took her back. So then I waited a really long time and they put me in a room. The vet finally came in and told me she wasn't doing well and they were having trouble stabilizing her & they couldn't even get a blood pressure because it was too low. They wanted my permission to do X-rays and blood work to try to figure out what was wrong. So another hour went by and the vet came back and told me she found a foreign object in her stomach in the X-ray but she couldn't tell what it was. She said my choices were they could continue to try to stabilize her enough to do surgery to remove it, but she highly doubted she would stabilize. She thought she would likely die in a few hours. She said if they did the surgery there was less than a 50% chance she could fight the infection. They suspected she was septic. She also said I was looking at another $7,000. She said my other option was to euthanize. So I went to look at the X-ray to see if I could figure out what the object was, but I couldn't. Then I saw her laying there on a table, she was breathing very deep and heavy like she couldn't catch her breath, she was cold, her tongue hanging out. She wasn't able to even follow me with her eyes. I knew then what I had to do. I ran out of the room crying. Then it took me about an hour of crying and talking it out again with my friends and the vet. Finally my choice was to let her go and end her suffering. I stayed with her through the whole thing & kissed her head & talked to her. That bill was $1,300. So now I'm grieving and don't have my baby and I owe $6,900. I paid with care credit and will be paying that back for at least 4 years. I don't like to ask for help at all and it has taken me a while to do this, but I figure why not. I've seen this really help before. I'd be eternally grateful to anyone that can help. I was already broke before this happened and just starting to get back on my feet and get things together. Every time I start to get things together something like this happens financially. I just can't get out of this hole.
