Hogar Rosa de Amor, fondly referred to as Rosa’s, is a home for girls who have been removed by court order from their families due to abuse and neglect. As a non-governmental organization, Rosa's does not receive financial support from the Guatemalan government and relies solely on donations to sustain its good works. Currently, Hogar Rosa de Amor is desperate for cash flow. In March 2013, I visited Hogar Rosa de Amor when I was volunteering in Antigua, Guatemala. My son, Nick Manson, and his friend, Paul Marshall, volunteered at Rosa’s. All three of us were deeply moved by the spirit and resilience of the children and the incredible work of the staff and volunteers. It is our hope to raise funds to help cover the necessary expenses accrued in the operation of a home that sustains and provides for approximately twenty-four children. Donations will be used to pay gas/rent/electric bills and for the purchase of daily materials such as food, clothing, bedding, and school supplies. If you are interested in donating, we invite you to read further about Rosa’s and the amazing work that is being done at Hogar Rosa de Amor. Please feel free to contact us (Diane Manson, Nick Manson, and Paul Marshall) if you have any questions as to how you can help.

ABOUT HOGAR ROSA DE AMOR:
Hogar Rosa de Amor, fondly referred to as Rosa’s, is a home for girls who have been removed by court order from their families due to abuse and neglect. Many of these girls have seen and experienced extreme verbal, physical, and sexual abuse and are still struggling with the effects of such trauma. Despite the hardship they have encountered, these children are AWESOME, funny, spirited, smart, and perhaps above all, patient--patient with volunteers’ stammering Spanish, patient with each other, and patiently waiting for and working towards better lives. Everyone who meets the girls has been humbled by what they have to teach about the resilience of the human spirit.

Currently, there are 20 girls (ranging in age from 10 to 18) and 4 little boys (ages 2 to 5) served at the home; several of the children have special needs and every child receives psychological counseling. All of the children’s needs are provided for by La Asociación Rosa de Amor, including food, housing, schooling, clothing, moral and spiritual development, and medical attention.

Please read my blog entry describing a special night at Rosa’s and feel inspired to do what you can to help these incredible children. Thank you.
