As a graduate student of Museum Studies at San Francisco State University I have contributed to the production of several exhibits in the past. Rather than writing a thesis for my culminating project, I have decided to develop a Creative Works Project exhibit entitled "Larkspur: Connecting Past and Present through Photography" in partnership with the Larkspur Heritage Preservation Board.

My Mission

The mission of this project is to raise awareness of the importance of historical preservation and to interpret the local heritage of Larkspur, California by updating the display gallery of historical photographs in Larkspur’s City Hall.

What is a Creative Works Project (CWP)?

A Creative Works Project is an alternative culminating project to a written thesis. Because my focus throughout the Museum Studies program has been education and exhibition design, I felt a CWP aligned more with my areas of interest. This project will allow me to truly exercise the skills I have gained through this program including: fundraising, content creation (both written and visual), collections care, and exhibit installation.

Why Larkspur?

After working as an intern to help digitize the historic photography collection for the City of Larkspur, I felt compelled to update the design and narrative of the existing display to draw attention to the city's history. In addition to an interesting collection, the board members, staff, and volunteers associated with it continually prove to be a dedicated, knowledgeable, and supportive team, without which the project would not be possible.

How will donations help?

The majority of funding will go toward printing high quality interpretive panels to be displayed for years to come. Other costs may include purchasing archival quality supplies (such as UV filtering film to protect paper artifacts from light) and printing promotional materials for the opening of the updated space. All donations are directed through PayPal into an account designated specifically for the exhibition.

Due to a slated opening in mid-March of 2013, donations will be accepted through March 1, 2013 Ongoing updates will be provided as the project moves forward.

On behalf of the Larkspur community, thank you for your support.
