Iola Kostrzewski hasn't added a story.
As many of you know I have been Elis primary caregiver is whole life of 18 months. 18 months of loving and enjoying a child with a loving and wacky personality who enjoys spending time with his brothers and kissing his brand new sister.
Es biological father though has decided to sue me for joint legal and physical custody after 18 months of no stability visitation wise, disapearing for months at a time and on and off child suport when he feels like it. Along with ignorig Es medical needs.
After Eli was born his father disapeared for 4 months no calls, text, emails nothing. Afterwards he would text in a great while but still not visiting and also not paying child support.
In May I was contacted by the Health department that Es newborn screening was flagged for Cystic fibrosis. Contacting Elis father about this he refused to come in for genetic testing, refused to come to any of his appointments so far and at the moment refuses to ignore any medical concerns pertaining Eli.
Established visits were set giving him choice of day and time. He made about half of them and the other half would be no shows no calls and even being told he forgot. This past may he went the whole month with out seeing Eli nor checking in on him.
Eli needs a father in his life, YET also needs stability and the stability part is lacking.
This month visits were going great. A friend with a back ground in DHS and social services was facilitating them.
Until I was served with papers by Elis father. Asking for Joint legal and physical custody of a child who was just getting to know him. In the same breath I was told he could not visit Eli until further notice. He was asked if days and time needed to change and his response was " no I will let you know later what will work for me" going on two weeks nothing has been heard from him.
He visits with E for one hour out of the week.
Why did he serve papers? Not to actually spend more time with E but to try to make sure little income of $7500 a month actually comes to help me support E as a full time student who works very part time with a friends business.
Eli deserves to have a father in his life---one who is consistent and stable and invested in his life and well being. Not someone who pops in and out when his father decides he has time or to pretend he wants custody so he may have to pay less in child support.....
I am asking help to raise $2000 to help with legal fees to respond to Elis father's petition that is nothing more than a way to avoid and delay taking responsibility
