Heather Schroeder hasn't added a story.
I'll admit that I'm not very good at this. I've always struggled with expressing myself. I can help others in need with ease, but when it comes to myself I fall flat. I originally thought that I could spread my sob story until I noticed that everyone has a story to tell. This was when I changed my outlook in life and broke away from the guilt from the past. I wanted to be someone that others could look up to.
Instead of rehashing the past, I've decided to share my accomplishments. I've always had the heart to help others. My first act of kindness (the first I can remember to recognized by others) was when I noticed on Christmas Eve my Great-Grandpa was the only one not getting a gift. There was part of me that couldn't understand why no one was giving him any gifts.
By the next year, I helped my parents wrap a present for my Great-Grandpa with Vern's cheese, wine, sausage, and crackers. Christmas Eve was whole again when I saw him smile.
I never lost my touch and started volunteering at my school, in the community, and in Girl Scouts where my troop (Troop 104) earned the Bronze Award.
I've volunteered at local churches (Chili Supper), Secret Shopping with Santa at the Public Library, and other community events (Crafty Apple Fest).
My most recent activities are volunteering at Chilton Public while in college from December to May 2015. I have over 200 hours working with students with reading and learning disabilities and 50+ hours as a library assistant. If everything works out with work I'll be volunteering at the start of the 2015/2016 school year.
Since high school, I've been aspiring to be inspirational. There was a point in my life where being aspiring wasn't enough. After 2 1/2 years, I saved enough money to go to college for a semester. I passed my certificate course in Teaching English as a Second Language and was encouraged to continue my education by one of my instructors.
I was accepted into Thongsook International in Bangkok, Thailand in May 2015!
Students are led to believe, from early on, that they will achieve their American Dream. I feel that many lose their hope with the increased fees and fewer options to stay debt free while in college. Young adults have to ask themselves if they're ready to plunge themselves into debt before they even start learning.
My story is just one of the many that talk about the struggles of affording an education. My situation is why I decided to go to a foreign college. Yet, I'm still in the same boat as others.
Ellen Degeneres, Katy Perry, Johnny Depp . . . everyone was once in the position I'm in now. The only thing that is different about me is that I want to change the world by being inspirational. To do this, I need your help. I aspire to be a role model.
With your help, I'll be an inspirational role model ready to lead the future generations to brighter paths.
Thank you for your support.
