Dear friends and family,

Rick, Brynn, Hannah and I started a personal family ministry to see if we could help our church, Mountain Park Community Church. We would like to collect donations for the churches flood relief fund.

On September 8th, 2014 a huge storm rolled thru Phoenix and caused a very destructive flood at our church.  This church has become a very special place for the Harris family, and it was so unfortunate to see the damage.  We attend services every Sunday and we adore Pastor Allen and the messages we hear every week. The kids are part of the Kids Up program, Rick and I have taken classes together on Sunday's, and I participate in a Women's ministry every Thursday. This church has had such an impact on us and has really helped us grow spiritually as a family. We feel it is our turn to give back!

The greatest damage from the flood was in the auditorium, where water rushed off the mountain, filled the wash and flooded into the building through some outside doors. Rows of seats were completely underwater. In other areas of the church there were roof leaks with led to falling ceiling tiles. All of the seats, carpet, and dry wall were stripped out of the auditorim, the nursery was emptied, toys washed, and dry wall and carpet replaced.

Our church had an amazing outpouring of support from the members as well as the community.  We all worked together to help get thru the initial stages of clean-up which cost almost $15,000.  For the weeks following, we had services in the lobby and in the gymnasium.  While this was not ideal, it allowed us to still worship together.  The past two Sunday's we were back in the auditorium sitting on temporary chairs.

The church is now in need for making the final repairs to the building.  The estimated total for repair costs is $574,000. The church has already collected $133,000 in donations.  So that leaves our church needing $441,000!

In addition to the weekly donation that we already give to the church, we would like to make an additional donation to the flood relief fund.  As a family, we brainstormed ideas on how we could make the most difference. The girls decided to donate a portion of their college savings, and set up a lemonade stand on Wednesday to help out.  Rick and I are taking a bit out of our personal savings and I am donating earnings from a few of my sewing lessons to the fund.  Another idea we came up with was to reach out beyond the walls of our home, and that is how this FundRazr came to be!

If you are feeling called to help, even though you may never have been to our church before, we are collecting donations thru this site.  Please do not feel obligated to donate, or donate beyond your means.  Any little bit will help- even $1 or $5. In addition to our plans listed above, Rick and I are committed to donating an additional 10% of all donations collected thru this FundRazr.

With Love and Thanks,

Rick, Jessica, Brynn and Hannah
