My mom started rescuing unwanted and abandoned animals 16 years ago and now she really needs some help for a couple of months to look after them all.
She has 20 animals, including five dogs, four cats, guinea pigs, degus, mice, hamsters and terrapins. She also has four tanks of fish, which had been left at her house by the previous resident when mom moved in.
She and a friend started a small gardening business last year after getting laid off from work (redundant) and this helped her big animal food budget, which is her one aim.
But with the cold weather, the work dried up (November 2013) and it isn't expected to pick up again till about late March/early April. She tried to budget enough to keep them going through the winter months, but one of the dogs needed surgery in December for a ruptured cruciate ligament (now healing well). This has been a big drain on mom's money and we are at crisis point now. In particular, three of the dogs have some health problems that need regular medication.
The animals are family and she loves them. If anyone can please help, even a very small amount will be very much appreciated until work starts picking up again. Thanks.
