The save Marley foundation was created to help save my beloved cat Marley's life. Marley is a 7 1/2 year old Egyptian Mau cat. He is the most lovable and loyal companion. On October 1, 2013 I came home from work and found my precious cat laying on the floor. He looked lethargic and could barely move. I immediately called my veterinarian and she told me to bring him in as soon as I could. Marley was examined by the doctor and I was informed that Marley had an extreme urinary track blockage. I later found out that he was beginning to have kidney failure. My veterinarian said I had two choices; I could have Marley put to sleep or I could bring him to the 24 hour emergency hospital where he could be seen by a specialist. Despite my struggles financially I decided to get Marley the medical help he needed to survive. The on call veterinarian at the 24 hour hospital evaluated Marley. She reported that he had one of the worst blockages she has ever seen in her career. The doctor inserted a catheter to assist in breaking up his blockage. The next day I was informed that Marley's urinary track blocked again overnight. After being in the hospital for 48 hours his catheter was removed. Unfortunely Marley is unable to urinate on his own due to inflammation and a minor blockage. He is in great pain. I was informed today that the only chance for Marley to survive would be to have a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) surgery. I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life to choose between Marley having the surgery or to euthanize him. I chose to have the life saving surgery for my best feline friend in the world. Marley has been by my side through some of the most difficult times in my life. He always knew when I needed a little extra love. I can not and will not give up on him. I do not have the money for this surgery and other medical expenses. Thus far I owe my veterinarian $4,000. I'm hoping that I can raise some money to help save Marley. If you are able to help it would be greatly appreciated.
