Thank you friends and family for visiting. Any support, weather it be monetary, spiritual, emotional, in the form of comments, cards, letters or kind words, is very much appreciated by Russell and his family!
As most of you already know, Russell was very recently diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. he is a 21 year old college atudent attending Tarleton State University. he was diagnosed after a mass was removed from his neck was biopsied. Scans showed a 6cm x 4cm tumor behind his nasopharynx. He was immediately referred to MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center for evaluation and treatment planning. While the prognosis seems good and the cancer is beatable, the physicians advise that they may only see this particular cancer with this particular placement only 10 times in a year. While nothing is certain as of yet, we do know that the radiation portion of his treatment will be done at MD Anderson. This will require him to be in Houston at MDA Monday through Friday for at least seven weeks for daily radiation and chemotherapy treatment.

As you know, Weatherford, TX is about 5 hours from Houston, TX and it is not feasible to drive back and forth every day for treatment, therefor Russell and Lisle will essentially "move" to Houston for the 7+ week treatment.

This is a very, very costly and unexpected transition for the family. It will require Lisle (Russell's dad) to be off of work for most of Russell's treatment time. It also requires them to find housing for those 7+ weeks they are in Houston. MD Anderson does have some housing resources, but at last check, there is a SIX MONTH wait list, and treatment can not wait that long.

We are asking for the help of family, friends, classmates, co-workers, teachers, supporters and concerned others to help get them to Houston so that treatment can begin as soon as the physicians order it. It is not in Lisle's nature to go out and ask for monetary help, but this is desperately needed. Their plan as it stands now is to reside in an RV in an RV park. I do not see this as being comfortable or acceptable for a young man going though treatment, but thus far, its the only option.

I have located a Best Western Plaza Hotel that is literally 800 yards from MDA. This is merely a 2.5 star hotel, but its accessibility and pricing seem to be the best deal available and Id like to be able to put them up in a decent place while there. It is walking distance, includes free hot breakfast each morning, and has a shuttle to MDA if necessary. Of course, This does not include food (outside of the free breakfast), prescription medications, cost of living, travel back home, and assorted other medical costs. The out of pocket cost will be tremendous.

If you can find it in your heart, please donate any amount you are comfortable with to help Russell get the treatment he needs and deserves. This family has seen more cancer than any family should. MD Anderson is the place place for Russell to be for the best outcome possible.
