Sara has been nominated by her teacher Mrs. Lutz and other teachers from Denver Elementary School, Denver, PA to enroll in the People to People Leadership Ambassador Programs (2013 World Leadership Forum). The nomination was based on academics and leadership skills that Sara practices. There are many fantastic historical events for her to choose from including visiting Washington DC, Philadelphia, NYC, Gettysburg to tour historical places, visit museums, and be educated by members of Congress as well as Chief White House Correspondent, and Astronauts, as well as many other influential Speakers. Sara has always put her schoolwork first and loves to learn and I know she will be like a little sponge on this trip, coming back and sharing what she learned with others. It was an honor just to be nominated, but in order to attend the programs we need to fund the tuition, which is highly expensive. Mike nor I have ever been one to ask for donations, but we are determined to do whatever we have to, in order for her to go. As usual, Sara chose the top notch, most expensive choice... The 2013 Presidential Inauguration from January 19-23! The tuition includes meals, museums, hotel and actual Inauguration tickets. The first of six days will consist of getting to know her leadership group, and learning all about the election process. On the second day she will be visiting The White House, Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's Hall of Presidents, visiting John F Kennedy's burial site, visiting the Lincoln, Franklin D Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Memorials, hear a speech from Mary Esienhower, who is the granddaughter of President Eisenhowwer and also the current President of the People to People Ambassador Program. Day three will consist of a speech from Kenneth M Duberstein, former White House, Chief of Staff, a visit to President George Washington's Mount Vernon home and gardens, seeing the US Capitol, where the inauguration takes place, a visit to the Library of Congress, and dinner on The Potomac River while watching a play about President Abraham Lincoln and his Cabinet member Edwin M Stanton. Day 4 - THE ACTUAL PRESIDENTIAL INNAGURATION, which is after a private breakfast at the National Smithsonian National Museum of American History, followed by an Inauguration Ball exclusively for the People to People
Program! Day 5 consists of a visit to Madame Tussauds Presidents Gallery, a visit to the International Spy Museum, The Newseum where she will learn about the campaigning, she will also visit the World War II and Vietnam Veteran Memorials. Day 5 concludes with her GIVING BACK with a hands on service project and a live performance at the Kennedy Space Center Ford's Theater Museum. Day 6 will be a small farewell party and departure home to little old Denver, PA! Please help us send Sara to this awesome, ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity!!! We need all the help we can get!
