Hello Space Enthusiasts and Friends,
I have some exciting news to share with you all! I have been accepted into the International Space University’s Space Studies Program (ISU SSP) for the summer of 2024 in Houston, Texas at NASA Johnson Space Center, and Rice University. This prestigious program is a melting pot of innovation and inspiration, bringing together passionate individuals from around the globe to push the boundaries of space exploration.
But that’s not all! In line with my commitment to giving back to the community and fostering the next generation of space enthusiasts, I’ve decided to link my journey with the growth of space education in Hungary. For every three euros donated to support my attendance at ISU, one euro will go directly to the CanSat Competition by the Hungarian Astronautical Society and the activities of the student-driven CanSatLab in Hungary (both nonprofit organizations), supporting students in building their own miniature satellites and sparking a love for space in young minds. If we exceed our fundraising goal of €7,500, 75% of the additional funds will be dedicated to the CanSat competition and related activities!
Here’s how we can make this happen together:
- Our fundraising goal is €7,500, which will cover part of my expenses at ISU and contribute significantly to CanSatLab.
- Every contribution, big or small, will propel me closer to this educational adventure and simultaneously bolster space education initiatives back home.
Why these matters? Your support will not only help me to achieve a pivotal milestone in my career but will also play a vital role in sustaining the vibrant community of budding future space scientists and engineers. Together, we can ignite countless dreams and fuel a future where the sky is not the limit but just the beginning.
Special recognition for Stellar Supporters: as a token of gratitude, every private supporter who contributes over €100 and corporates above €500 will be acknowledged by name (upon consent) in our posts about my studies and various CanSat programs and events. Your generosity will not only lift me to new heights but also elevate our collective impact on space education. Together with our CanSat rockets, we’re ready to take not just to Space City, but literally to the sky! As a Stellar Supporter you get:

Ready to contribute? Here’s how you can get involved:
- Donate via this fundraising page, where you can also track our progress and updates. (this platform does not take any commissions – supporting it is completely optional)
- Spread the word! Share this with anyone who believes in the power of education and the wonders of space.
Every step I take at ISU will be powered by your support and every euro will also ripple through communities, nurturing young talents in the field of space. Thank you for considering supporting my journey and the future of space science.
Let’s soar to new heights together! 🌌🚀✨
Warmest regards,
Peter

About CanSat Competitions and CanSatLab:
The CanSat competition is an educational initiative that offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in designing, building, and testing a simulated satellite, known as a CanSat. The competition simulates a real space mission in a more accessible and compact format, with the CanSat itself being a small electronic device housed within the volume and shape of a standard soda can. Participants are tasked with integrating all the major components of a satellite, such as payload, telemetry, and a recovery system, into this small space.
During the competition, the CanSats are launched to a certain altitude using rockets or balloons and must complete a specific mission while descending back to Earth, typically by parachute. Missions vary each year and can include tasks like measuring atmospheric conditions, carrying out scientific experiments, or testing technology for space applications. This competition not only teaches students about space engineering and atmospheric science but also helps develop team collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills. The CanSat competition is open to university and high school students worldwide, fostering an educational environment where students can apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, exciting real-world setting.
Here is a summary video of the most recent competition:
CanSatLab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring middle school students towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through space research. The first of its kind student lab provides professional support and an educational environment in collaboration with universities, experts, and space research companies. Annually, they co-organize the CanSat competition, where teams build mini satellites within a soda can-sized module, guided by mentors and university students, some of whom have worked with ESA and NASA. For more information, visit CanSatLab .
The Hungarian Astronautical Society (MANT) - the organizer of CanSat Hungary Competitions:
The Hungarian Astronautical Society, abbreviated as MANT in Hungarian, is a non profit organization that gathers Hungarian space researchers, users of space technology and everyone who is interested in the interdisciplinary and state-of-the-art uses and research of outer space.
MANT, through its members from various fields of science, organizes conferences, youth forums, summer space camps, issues periodicals, releases media material and holds lectures about space research and connected scientific fields. Since 1959, MANT is a member of the International Astronautical Federation.
