Slab City is home to many people who love to live off the grid. We love that we have to take care of things for ourselves. We  love that our community is the way it is. However, sometimes, like everyone at some point, we need a little help with cleaning up.

We put a trash dumpster here at Slab City & call it the Mike Bright Memorial Dumpster.

While the focus for this garbage dumpster is for cleaning up old garbage, trash that has been left behind for one reason or another, this dumpster would be for anyone at Slab City to use and have access to at certain specific times.

We often have "trash parties" where people volunteer their time and effort to clean up specific areas, we are finding it harder and harder to get rid of the trash afterwards. The local landfill is closing at some point in the near future, and we will be forced to take our trash all the way to Imperial to dump it.

We are smart and strong and willing to work, but we need a little help to get going.

The trash dumpster is a contracted service and pick up is once a week. There are some things that cannot go into the dumpster (TV's, electronics, paint, propane containers etc.) so it will have to be secured and monitored. The cost is $180 per month, with a $25 delivery fee (plus taxes plus a 31% environmental & fuel fee).

This is a free service for people at Slab City. We run entirely on donations.
