Jamie Blake hasn't added a story.
Jamie Blake and Mitsuhiro Hattori are running a series of week long
250km marathons in 4 deserts across the globe.
We will be running in:
Sahara Desert - Gobi Desert - Atacama Desert - Antarctica
The 4 Deserts is recognised as one of the world's leading
endurance footrace series as named by TIME magazine. These week-long
stage races take place in the world's most forbidding landscapes and
harshest climates, and see competitors race across 250 km (155 miles)
of desert!
We have a whole host of aims for the project as a whole and we
have tried to categorise them into three main categories.
Our Personal Aims:
• One of the biggest challenges we are likely to face in our
entire lives both mentally and physically.
• A rare chance to see
some fantastic parts of the globe that we likely would never have the
chance to experience.
• Great opportunity to develop transferable
skills such as time management, presentation proficiency, and
social/communicative skills for use in later life.
Our Charitable Aims:
• Raise money for children and families affected by life
threatening conditions who are supported by our sponsored charity
EACH.
• Raise money for orphans affected by the
terrible Japanese earthquake and tsunami as supported by Aid
for Japan.
• Chance to do something that affects a
person’s entire life positively in the future.
Our Long Term Aims:
• Encourage others to take on charitable causes in
future.
• Inspire other young people that incredible tasks can be
achieved through hard work and fantastic support of others.
We are aware that the generosity shown from our backers is
giving us the opportunity to run in these fantastic environments but
we really hope to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic
children's charities as well! Jamie is raising for East Anglia
Children's Hospice (EACH) and Hiro is raising for
Aid for Japan. EACH is a children's hospice working
across East Anglia providing care and support for families and for
children and young people with life-threatening conditions. Aid for
Japan is raising money for orphans after the recent Japanese
earthquake. The charity provides great care for these vulnerable
children who have lost everything. To start with out of all the money
donated 1/3rd is directly reserved for our charities and the other
2/3rds funds our entrance fees and flights to the race destinations as
these costs are very high! However as we raise more money from our own
work, fundraising events and sponsors we can then start to push all
the money we can straight to the charities!
If you want all your money to go to the charity or want to donate and
divide your funds differently, that of course is fine! Just mention
how you would like your money split and we will put it to the relavant cause!
Our ultimate target by the end of the final race we hope to have
raised a total of around£55,000! At least £16,500 (1/3rd) for charity.
£36,500 (2/3rds) is our entrance costs, flights and equipment. However
if we don't reach our ultimate goal we have milestones set where we
can compete race by race. We hope company sponsors can bare the brunt
of our expenses so we can push as much of the money raised to our charities.
We are solely non-profit so if we raise over our combined cost
and charity figure the of course 100% of future money raised goes to
the charities!
Please help us by liking and sharing our page and most
importantly please donate to help fund our trip and support these
great charities! Anything you give will make a huge difference!
