Hello! My name is Maltha and I’m passionate about celebrating Black history, culture, and art. This Black History Month, I’m organizing a unique and immersive cultural event that brings together dancers, musicians, poets, and artists from our local Black community to create a one-of-a-kind experience. The event is titled “I Am What Art Is”, and it aims to transform the traditional performance into a fully interactive experience where the audience becomes part of the art.

 In the spirit of celebrating Black history, this event is more than just a showcase. It’s a living, breathing tribute to the creativity, resilience, and vibrant spirit of Black culture. But I need your help to bring this vision to life!

This event will feature:

- Live Performances: From jazz and blues to African drumming, guitars, and saxophones, our musicians will take you on a journey through the heart of Black musical history.

- Interactive Dance Performances: Dancers will perform both choreographed and improvised pieces among the audience, blurring the lines between the performers and the crowd.

- Spoken Word and Poetry: Our featured slam poets will share powerful narratives about the Black experience, history, and hope.

- Cultural Instruments and Art: Traditional instruments like the Kora, performed live, will connect the past with the present, reminding us of the deep roots of Black culture.

The theme “I Am What Art Is” speaks to the core of Black identity. Art is not just something we create; it’s who we are. We want every attendee to walk away feeling not just entertained but inspired and connected to the rich cultural legacy of the African diaspora.
