Robert's Dog Sanctuary, a registered Charity organisation, that is giving shelter, medical care, food and more to over 50 dogs until the time we find for them a loving forever home. This year, although of the difficult situation due to Covid-19 we have successfully re-homed over 60 dogs to UK, Germany and Holland. Everyone, who is familar with Mediterranean countries, knows the existing problem, that dogs are simply abandoned. If they end up in a Government pound, they will be PTS after 15 days unless a owner claims them.
We, as many other organisation in Cyprus, are solely relying on funding from individuals to cover all our monthly expenses, the biggest part being the Vet Expenses.
This month we have 2 dogs under our care, which need urgently intensive medical attention.
The most urgent case is Teddy! Who was found on Sunday 27th September, by our volunteers in the surrounding of Limassol, in a devastating condition. A dog which should weight about 20 kg, only weights just 7 kg, his eyes closed by a crust because he is suffering Leishmania.
How can we refuse him help, how can we pass by and close our eyes, we know we can help him to feel better, to be without pain, and if his condition still allows to heal him to have a happy future!
Teddy is at the Vet clinic in Limassol, Cyprus since Monday morning. His kidney results are bad, he is very anemic requiring blood transfusions, many drips, eritropoetin, and when getting stronger Milteforan - a treatment which helps to cure the body of Leishmania decease.
All of this will cost close to 1000 Euro plus we need to pay 800 Euro for the operation of Terra (2nd dog - saved 2 weeks ago who needed an expensive leg operation). These amounts we simply cannot afford - our monthly donations are much lower than a year ago as many of our supporters face monetary hardship due to the Covid situation. We are owing already Euro 2000 to the Veterinary Clinic!
But - what are we are going to do - stop to help - forcing ourselves to look the other way - let such beautiful living being , only 1-2 years old, dying suffering in terrible pain in the boiling heat?
We cannot - we need your help - please help us - please help us to continue to rescue dogs like Teddy, if he will make it with our help, he will have a beautiful life in a new country, at a new family, and he will forget.
