Robert’s Dog Sanctuary, a registered non-profit-organisation in Limassol, Cyprus, needs your help URGENTLY.
The sanctuary is given home, food, vet-care and as much love as possible to 120 homeless dogs. Although, we, the voluneers at the sanctuary, trying to reduce the number of dogs, to 80 over the past years! AND we are successfully rehoming about 70 dogs each year! But unfortunately it’s been impossible for us to refuse new dogs to keep the number of dogs at the shelter low – to 80 dogs.
The situation in Cyprus, where many dog-owners leave their dogs in the streets, beach or in the mountains, when not wanted any more, and where many families simply do not neuter their dogs makes it too often necessary to step in and rescue these little poor dogs.
On top, the saddest news, these new dogs coming to the shelter, are often (90%) in a terrible health situation, which requires for expensive treatments and vet care, not to speak about the necessary vaccinations , neutering etc. in order to join and live with our existing dogs at the sanctuary.
As we noticed during the past 3 years, it’s a fact that we are forced to provide for more than 80 dogs (presently 120), and we decided to build additional pens for the dogs, especially really urgent right now as the winter arrived in Cyprus, and the 30 dogs need a warm place to stay!
Here the dilemma starts, as we try to make it as good as possible, the bills flowing in are much higher than expected and we now ran out of money!
We spent all reserves we had, and even the money for the running expenses of the shelter, such as wages, food, water and the huge vet bill, which we need to pay at the end of the month!
We would like to ask you all, to help us a little bit, if we pull together, we can give a good and healthy life to our dogs until their find their forever home! We need your help now!
You must know, that we at the shelter have got some 20-30 dogs who are with us for years, they are either too big, or not so obvious pretty, and not the youngest, or not the healthiest! A big challenge to rehome these doggies although they need it most! They are the most loving ones, and we need to protect them as long as it takes. We need to provide for them and keep them safe!
