BR&W is rehabilitating its railroad from Ringoes to Lambertville, NJ! The first part of this project will repair the first 2.5 miles of railroad, allowing us to bring passenger trains to WoodsEdge Farm for tours, special events, and more.

Who We Are

The BR&W has offered family-friendly train excursions and special events on our historic steam railroad in beautiful Hunterdon County, New Jersey for over 50 years. We are managed and operated by an almost entirely volunteer staff that is dedicated to preserving New Jersey's railroad heritage for future generations.

The Project

Since 1997, the portion of the BR&W railroad between Ringoes and Lambertville has been dormant. This rail line passes through some of Hunterdon County's most pristine scenery, much of it preserved woodlands and farms. Our project will return this stretch of railroad to active service.

The first part of this project will re-open 2.5 miles of railroad south from Ringoes and establish a new station at Bowne, next door to WoodsEdge Farm. This service was launched in 2017 and includes:

  • The WoodsEdge Express, featuring tours of the farm and shopping at the farm store.
  • Charters for parties, weddings, and other functions.
  • The Bowne Station Local, departing Ringoes Station most Saturdays and Sundays May-Aug.
  • More to be announced!

Now, we are continuing our work south toward Lambertville. We have 4.5 miles of track left to rehabilitate, with plans to complete 2-3 miles during 2018. This will be possible with your support, our hard working volunteer crews, and the continued patronage of our guests on our existing passenger trains!

What Does Your Donation Buy?

  • $35 purchases one tie.
  • $40 purchases one tie and the necessary hardware to install it.
  • $100-$200. Purchases approximately one bridge timber. Each bridge is different, and the timbers are all custom made.
