Stella is a fabulous four-year-old who may be spending Christmas in the Sick Kids Hospital again this year.

Stella has Spinal muscular atrophy type 2 (SMA). What does this mean? She is a beautiful, intelligent and funny four-year-old, who is in an electric wheel chair. She has never walked, nor will she ever. SMA destroys nerves that control voluntary movement like walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing.

I want to give her parents some financial freedom so their family can celebrate the holidays, regardless if she gets to be home, or if they need to move Christmas to the hospital.

So why is Stella at risk of not being home for Christmas? Stella has just caught a cold. You're probably thinking "that's no big deal." But for Stella, it means a hospital stay and a chance she won't be home again this year for Christmas. She missed her brothers first Christmas in 2012 for a similar reason, and now a possibility again this year. She's five, her little brother is two. They should be spending Christmas together, where she's not attached to a bunch of tubes!

Stella is my faux-niece who lives in Toronto with her wonderfully strong parents, Sarah and Myles who have been our close friends for about 15 years. I was their roommate, then Myles was MC at our wedding and Sarah was our photographer. Fast forward a few years, my husband and I are now faux-aunt and uncle to their two beautiful children.

I want Stella's wonderful parents to have some financial freedom to be able to bring Christmas to her if needed. I want them to not have to worry about missing work. And I'd love them just to have some extra cash, so they have a special Christmas - either at the hospital or, fingers crossed, at home.

I promise you, this mom and dad are amazing individuals. They will pay it forward on anything we raise. For more information on Stella's battle with SMA, check out
