Hello and thank you for visiting this page!

So, I am running the Kimbolton half marathon on Sunday 17th August and would be incredibly grateful if you could sponsor me. Now, I am no runner: I never have been and am not sure I shall continue to be after this run! Why, you might ask, am I therefore running 13 miles in the height of summer? Well, the answer is for my sister and for a charity which is incredibly important to the both of us (what with being teachers and all!).

My sister is travelling to Uganda during her summer holidays to support the charity LRTT - this stands for Limited Resource Teacher Training. Their aims are to help support local communities in their efforts to rise out of poverty through Education Development and volunteering; they will be working closely with up to 200 local Ugandan teachers on a daily basis. The teachers they will be working with teach in local schools with average class sizes of over 50 students – meaning they can impact upon the lessons and lives of around 10,000 children this summer. This is done by using qualified teachers (such as Sophie) to plan and deliver workshops to groups of Ugandan teachers in an intensive training programme.

The money raised will go towards the cost of this life-changing project, enabling many vulnerable and deprived local children to obtain the education they deserve. The money will NOT be used for flights to Uganda and additional activities - this is no holiday!

Thank you! X
